Entrant Support

There are a number of initiatives in place to support entrants in the preparation of their submissions for the Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards.

Submission Mentoring Program

For the first time, entrants will have an opportunity to receive draft submission feedback prior to the closing date for entries. An awards submission mentor will read through an entrant’s submission and provide a written critique detailing areas for improvement and enhancement.

To take part in the submission mentoring program, entrants need to send a completed draft submission through to the Awards coordinator at canberratourismawards@act.gov.au by COB Wednesday 5 October (any submissions received after this date will not receive feedback). Your submission must be in a complete form by this time, with all questions answered. Written feedback will be provided within one week. Entrants will then have three weeks before submissions close to incorporate the feedback and suggestions into their submission.

Involvement in the submission mentoring program costs $88.00 (GST inclusive) per submission. This will be invoiced once feedback has been provided.

For further details, please contact the Awards coordinator.

Workshops

Two workshops will be held in July/August. Free for all entrants to attend.

The workshops will cover how to write a winning submission, site visit preparation, mystery shopper program, formatting and presentation of submissions, and submitting your entry.

Presented by Awards sponsor Threesides, these workshops offer a chance to ask questions and gain insights into what is expected of an award winning submission.

Full details of the workshops will be added here shortly.

Student Assistance

The Centre for Tourism Research at the University of Canberra in conjunction with Australian Capital Tourism delivers a program where entrants have the opportunity to work with a university student to develop an Awards submission. The Student Assistance Program provides entrants with access to an exclusive opportunity where students gain valuable hands-on industry experience and entrants gain the support of a student to assist with the submission development process.

This opportunity is open to all entrants, but preference will be given to those who are entering the Awards for the first time.  When nominating, entrants flag their interest to be a part of the Student Assistance Program.

Note: Not all entrants who request assistance will be paired with a student due to the number of entrants involved vs. students available. Preference will be given to first time Award entrants.

Full details of student assistance will be provided after nominations have closed in early July.
