Winners in categories 1-25 at the Canberra Region Tourism Awards go on to represent Canberra and the region at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Winners in these categories from each of the state and territory Tourism Award programs proceed to become finalists and compete for the gold, silver and bronze awards.
There is no direct entry into the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
The 2016 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards were announced on 24 February, 2017 at the Awards Presentation in Darwin.
Canberra and the region was represented by eleven finalists. Questacon won the Tourist Attractions category; Silver was awarded to Canberra Airport in the Specialised Tourism Services category; and the National Folk Festival took home Silver in the Festivals and Events category.
